As IberCup celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2019, the organization announced its newest host city for youth football tournaments around the world: Rio de Janeiro. It became the third Brazilian city to welcome clubs to compete in the sport we all love.
In Brazil, IberCup has already hosted six editions in São Paulo (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025), two editions in Porto Alegre (2019 and 2020), and four editions in Rio de Janeiro (2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025).
Known for its breathtaking landmarks, the “Marvelous City” is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World: Christ the Redeemer. The city was once the capital of Brazil and is also home to one of football’s greatest icons: Maracanã Stadium.
The stadium, which hosted the 1950 FIFA World Cup Final between Brazil and Uruguay, still holds the record for the highest attendance ever at a football match: 199,584 spectators witnessed the historic final in which Brazil lost the world title at home by 2–1 to Uruguay.
A city that breathes football is once again set to host the biggest youth football tournament in Latin America.
